Leyland and the House Lights

Finding a position to photograph the piano players is difficult. A raised stage means looking up at the underside of the piano, not at the keyboard. Getting close enough to mitigate that issue usually puts the photographer between the musician and the audience. And, quite often, the piano is positioned so that the keyboard is turned away from the audience. The sum of all this is that the best position is from the rear or side of the stage. Unfortunately, unless you literally "get into the act," that often gets a view of the back of the musician. But here, an unobtrusive opportunity works, and the house lights add an extra element of interest.
