Red Barn Abstract

This one-sided barn reveals the landscape behind it. The fields behind receive differing levels of light through patchy clouds. The light and contours give the field its stripes. All diagonals lead downward and to the right, and seemed to be directing attention out of the frame. For that reason, I decided to include enough of the tree to push attention back into the photograph.

The image has been well-received, but the style is not to everyone's taste. I am pleased that it got the attention that I think it deserves, winning a First Place ribbon for architecture photography. Second Place went to "Timberline Motel" shown in the Lightfall Gallery of this web site.
