Two Earlier Times

In very flat light, it looks somewhat like a sketch. I do not know what function the two wooden buildings once served, but I suspect one was a hotel. The wood trim of the Richfield station connects it to the building beyond, and they each belong to earlier times.

There are mysteries to this abandoned tableau that appear to be of more recent origin. The potted tree seems like an afterthought to the scene, as though someone's child could not resist contributing something before moving on to his or her next distraction. Completing the image is a red and orange barrel. It seems to be the newest element of the scene. Someone has taken the time to put it there, but for what purpose? I would call in Sherlock Holmes for these matters.
