Green and Gray

The silos are isolated within shades of green. They share the hue and luminance of the sky, adding to their dominant role in the photograph. It is a simple composition with subtle tones and restricted palette. The engaging textures of crop and silos give the photograph added visual substance.

I made several photographs of these silos, from different locations. From this angle, the silos show good variation in tone, and the augers add a diagonal element among the silos. While making this photograph, I realized how much the silos can benefit from gray skies.
